Baseball Recap: Crystal City Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Crystal City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bishop DuBourg Cavaliers, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since April 13, 2024.

Crystal City got a great performance from Kaiden Thomas as he struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those earned runs were Thomas' first of the season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nolan Eisenbeis, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Ricardo Pastrana also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Crystal City's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Bishop DuBourg, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Crystal City will welcome Vashon/Miller Career Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bishop DuBourg, they will venture away from home to face off against Cardinal Ritter College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
