Preview: North Park Wildcats vs. De Beque Dragons
The North Park Wildcats's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the De Beque Dragons at 1:30 p.m. on January 26th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though North Park has not done well against Rangely recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. North Park enjoyed a cozy 56-39 victory over Rangely.
Gavin Pittington was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Jace Cornelison was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, De Beque had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They took down Caprock Academy 65-48. Given De Beque's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Caprock Academy is ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Park's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for De Beque, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
