Volleyball Recap: Walther Christian Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Chicago Christian

Walther Christian Academy kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Chicago Christian Knights by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Broncos of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Walther Christian Academy sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-10, 24-26, 25-16.

Sebastian Rivera-Azurdia paced Walther Christian Academy's offense, picking up seven kills. Rivera-Azurdia got some help from Esteban Lopez and his seven assists. Lopez was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Ryan Vanden Bosch, who had five digs and four aces.

The win got Chicago Christian back to even at 1-1.

Walther Christian Academy has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Ridgewood on the 27th. As for Chicago Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Henry Clay on the 28th.
