League recap: Cascade Christian climbs in state rankings

1A Nisqually - Division 1 recap September 10, 2013

Cascade Christian scaled the state rankings by moving to 42 from 69 this week, the biggest jump in 1A Nisqually - Division 1. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Cashmere 21-3.

Vashon Island took down Orcas Island 50-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Hunter Austin was the best running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 154 yards as Cascade Christian bested the Bulldogs. Teammate Jackie Wood added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.

Jacob McCormick put up the best numbers through the air as Eatonville fell to Orting. He finished with 12 completions for 111 yards. McCormick's favorite target this week was Joe Evans, who caught 2 passes for 30 yards.

Austin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Randy Davis' team defeated Cashmere. Austin's key target this week was Coleman, who caught 2 passes for 45 yards.

Coleman was the best receiver in the league this week as the Cougars bested Phil Zukowski's team. Mason Tobeck helped Cascade Christian's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 21 yards.

Will Harris made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cruisers fell to the Cardinals. The 6-foot-0 junior.

An important game coming up in 1A Nisqually - Division 1 this week will be when Bellevue Christian takes on the Pirates. The Vikings are currently in fifth, while Vashon Island is in first.

Kelvin Goliday's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 50 points on the Vikings.
