Julian Diaz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jonathan Lopez and Jaden Doverspike did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Doverspike went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Doverspike has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nico Sabatino, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
St. Thomas Aquinas lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in ten consecutive games.
Southridge typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday West Boca Raton proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Spartans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulls.
Not much got past Corey Jordan, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Southridge off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tayegan Briskey, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. West Boca Raton is 5-2 when Briskey posts two or more stolen bases, but 10-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Godfrey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
St. Thomas Aquinas pushed their record up to 23-5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Boca Raton, the victory got them back to even at 15-15.
St. Thomas Aquinas took their win against West Boca Raton when the teams last played on April 4th by a conclusive 13-5 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
