Softball Recap: Thales Academy Rolesville Takes a Loss

Thales Academy Rolesville had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Durham Academy Cavaliers, falling 17-2. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Thales Academy Rolesville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayne Harrison, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Durham Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Durham Academy's side, Meera Gupta made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Gupta has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Siyona Gupta was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Gunsch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thales Academy Rolesville will venture away from home to take on Thales Academy Apex at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.43 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Durham Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Ravenscroft at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
