Basketball Recap: Kim/Branson Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Kim/Branson lost to Eads back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Everything went the Kim/Branson Mustangs' way against the Eads Eagles as the Kim/Branson Mustangs made off with a 68-48 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Kim/Branson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Rosas, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Rosas a new career-high in blocks (five). David Gamez was another key player, going 8 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Rosas wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Kim/Branson was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eads only racked up four assists.

When it comes to explaining why Eads lost, don't look at Stockton Mitchek. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 20 en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Mitchek is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Anthony Paez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Kim/Branson's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Eads, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Kim/Branson will be playing in front of their home fans against Sangre de Cristo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sangre de Cristo will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Kim/Branson surely won't give up without a fight. Eads has already played their next matchup (against Granada), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
