Volleyball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield was the 2-1 winner over Edwards County when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Mules took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Thursday. The Mules have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Fairfield ultimately came up short, they really made Edwards County work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-16.

Jensyn Robbins paced Fairfield's offense, picking up ten kills. Robbins got some help from Alexa Newman and her eight assists. Maci McConnaughhay controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Edwards County, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1.

Fairfield has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Flora on the 7th. As for Edwards County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Carmi-White County on the 6th.
