Softball Recap: DeKalb Takes a Loss

DeKalb extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 14-12. They lost 14-1 to the Waubonsie Valley Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat on Tuesday.

As for Waubonsie Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Waubonsie Valley's part, Molly Quinn was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Quinn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Samantha Hughes was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Avery Gage, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Coincidentally, DeKalb and Waubonsie Valley will both be playing Neuqua Valley the next time they take the field. The Barbs will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Warriors will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
