Football Game Preview: San Diego Vaqueros vs. Progreso Red Ants

San Diego is a perfect 4-0 against Progreso since October of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Progreso took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on San Diego, who comes in off a win.

San Diego is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Santa Gertrudis Academy last Friday. The Vaqueros came out on top against the Lions by a score of 28-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Vaqueros haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Progreso fell victim to Raymondville and their airtight defense last Friday. They were dealt a 76-0 loss at the hands of the Bearkats. The Red Ants haven't had much luck with the Bearkats recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Progreso's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for San Diego, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Everything came up roses for San Diego against Progreso in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 65-0 victory. Will the Vaqueros repeat their success, or do the Red Ants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
