Preview: Northside Eagles vs. Lee County Trojans

Northside is 0-10 against Lee County since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Northside: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Lee County has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Northside pushed their score all the way to 78 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Warner Robins at home by a decisive 92-78 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (67), Northside still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Northside got a solid performance out of Keron Milton jr., who scored 34 points along with two steals. Milton jr. continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chastan Brown, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Northside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. This was only their ninth loss (out of 13 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Meanwhile, Lee County strolled past Houston County with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-49. Given Lee County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Houston County is ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northside has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Lee County, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
