Basketball Recap: Xavier Nelson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Steward over Cape Henry Collegiate

Steward entered their contest against Cape Henry Collegiate on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Steward Spartans fell just short of the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins by a score of 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered against the Dolphins since January 21, 2020.

Steward lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Xavier Nelson, who went 6-for-12 en route to 18 points and seven boards. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Donovan Richardson, who posted 20 points.

Steward's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
