Heritage is 2-7 against Tuscarora since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pride will look to defend their home field against the Huskies at 6:15 p.m.
On Thursday, Heritage came up short against Loudoun Valley and fell 8-5. The Pride have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Audrey Ellison and Brooke Gallagher stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ellison went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Gallagher went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Gallagher has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tuscarora, who bounced back after a loss on the road on April 3rd. They came out on top against Millbrook by a score of 5-1 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won three in a row.
Peyton Travis looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Claire Chamberlin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Chloe Wools was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.
Tuscarora was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory got Tuscarora back to even at 3-3. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Heritage hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Tuscarora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Heritage skirted past Tuscarora 9-8 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Pride have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
