Basketball Recap: Largo Takes a Loss

Largo was the 56-51 winner over Clearwater when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Largo Packers took a hard 67-51 fall against the Clearwater Tornadoes on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Packers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 577th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 106th).

Keshawn Andrews was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds for Clearwater. The match was Andrews' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kris Foote, who went 7 of 10 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Largo dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Clearwater, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Largo will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sickles at 4:30 a.m. on January 1, 2025. Clearwater and Sumner will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sumner's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
