Baseball Recap: New Braunfels Thunder Comes Up Short

If New Braunfels Thunder was feeling good fresh off their 14-1 takedown of Somerset Academy Collegiate last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. New Braunfels Thunder fell just short of the San Antonio Christian Lions by a score of 6-5 on Saturday.

New Braunfels Thunder saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Israel Fuentes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Fuentes has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Paxton Lerma, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

New Braunfels Thunder's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for San Antonio Christian, their record is now 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Braunfels Thunder will take on Valor South Austin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valor South Austin will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something New Braunfels Thunder surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Antonio Christian, they will square off against Saint Mary's Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
