Preview: Carver Crusaders vs. Hoosac Valley Hurricanes
Carver is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Hoosac Valley is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Carver Crusaders will take on the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Carver's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Carver walked away with it. They put the hurt on KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate with a sharp 49-27 win on Friday. Carver might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight games by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Tyler Lennox, who threw for 355 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Lennox is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jameson Helms, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Another reason for the win was Carver's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by James Callahan and Jack Balzarini who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Hoosac Valley beat Old Colony RVT on Saturday by the very same score they won with last week: 24-14.
Their wins bumped Carver to 10-0 and Hoosac Valley to 11-0.
