While Shelby County's win against Vincent wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Yellow Jackets 4-3.
Danslen Connell (2029) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Connell (2029) was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Kaydence Connell (2026) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Chaisson (2026), who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Shelby County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Thorsby suffered their biggest defeat since March 21, 2024 on Friday. They lost 11-3 to Childersburg. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Thorsby saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Reeser, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. Brinley Giambrone was another, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Shelby County pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Thorsby, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shelby County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Thorsby struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shelby County was able to grind out a solid victory over Thorsby when the teams last played on Thursday, winning 16-11. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
