Baseball Recap: Monarch Triumphs

Monarch's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Skyline Falcons by a score of 6-1. The Coyotes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Evan DiCarlo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Monarch is 2-1 when DiCarlo allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Blake Lehrer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Uhlenhake, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Monarch's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Skyline, they dropped their record down to 5-10-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Monarch will face off against Longmont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Skyline, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fairview at 4:00 p.m. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
