Football Game Preview: Mitchell Tigers vs. Gordon-Rushville Mustangs

For the first time this season, Mitchell will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to take on the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell has given up an average of 35 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mitchell had taken Sidney down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Tigers were beaten by the Red Raiders 48-7. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Gordon-Rushville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 22-12 to Gibbon. While the Mustangs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Buffaloes 12-0.

Gordon-Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Mitchell didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Gordon-Rushville when the teams last played back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 35-29 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Mustangs' Kyler Vincent, who rushed for 103 yards and three TDs.
