Baseball Recap: Brewer Comes Up Short

Brewer had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it ten. They came up short against the Hampden Broncos, falling 10-0. The Witches were not able to make up for their defeat to the Broncos from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Hampden, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

For Hampden's part, Nykson Moors was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Moors a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rogan Lord, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton O'Roak, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Brewer will face off against rival Oxford Hills at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Hampden is set to take on their familiar foe Edward Little at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
