Volleyball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lindsay Lane Christian Academy Lions. The Golden Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

The 3-2 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Lexington lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 22-25, 22-25, 27-25, 20-18.

Brenlee White paced Lexington's offense, picking up 17 kills. White got some help from Katelyn Sullivan and her 53 assists. Raegan Pate controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Lindsay Lane Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Molly Menefee, who had ten digs.

Lexington's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 19-21. As for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, they moved to 20-18 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

Lexington has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Wilson on the 4th. As for Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
