Basketball Recap: Bunkie Has No Trouble Against Buckeye

Bunkie barely beat Buckeye the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bunkie Panthers put the hurt on the Buckeye Panthers with a sharp 53-33 victory on Friday. Given Bunkie's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Buckeye is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bunkie's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-11. As for Buckeye, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 19 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bunkie will venture away from home to square off against Lafayette Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lafayette Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Bunkie likes a good challenge. As for Buckeye, they will head out to face off against Monterey at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
