Basketball Recap: Battery Creek Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tyrese Smith and Kelvin Willis

Battery Creek lost against North Charleston back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Battery Creek Dolphins fell 64-52 to the North Charleston Cougars.

Kelvin Willis and Tyrese Smith certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Willis posted 15 points and five boards, while Smith almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Smith also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024.

Richard Hazel III continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Charleston, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Xzavion Capers, who had six points and 15 boards.

Battery Creek now has a losing record at 10-11. As for North Charleston, their record is now 13-9.

While Battery Creek had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
