Charlottesville hasn't had much luck against Fluvanna County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Black Knights will take on the Flying Flucos at 7:00 p.m. Charlottesville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Charlottesville came into this matchup off a tough six-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Orange County by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Black Knights have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Charlottesville got a good showing from Julian Mark-Williams, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Mark-Williams has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abe Jaspen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mason Divers, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fluvanna County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 10-2 win. That's two games straight that the Flying Flucos have won by exactly eight runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Charlottesville and nudges their season record down to 7-4. As for Fluvanna County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Charlottesville skirted past Fluvanna County 4-2 in their previous matchup on April 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Black Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
