Softball Recap: Ahoskie Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Ahoskie Christian was riding high fresh off their 16-2 takedown of Suffolk Christian Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ahoskie Christian fell 10-7 to the Community Christian Cyclones on Monday. Ahoskie Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Community Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Keira Lassiter was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Lauren Dickens stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Dunlow, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Even though they lost, Ahoskie Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

With the loss, Ahoskie Christian broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5. As for Community Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ahoskie Christian will challenge Faith Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Community Christian, they will take on Spirit of Life Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
