Softball Game Preview: Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers vs. String Theory

The Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against String Theory at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Philadelphia Academy Charter is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Science Leadership Academy. Everything went Philadelphia Academy Charter's way against Science Leadership Academy on Wednesday as Philadelphia Academy Charter made off with a 17-2 victory.

Jayonni Farabelli was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Bridget Donaghy was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

Philadelphia Academy Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Science Leadership Academy only posted an OBP of .400.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask String Theory). They blew past Thomas A. Edison 19-12 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for String Theory, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Danica Divincenzo made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up four earned runs but no hits. Divincenzo was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Six bases. while going 3-for-5. Divincenzo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Alexa Pietrafesa was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-4. Everything went Philadelphia Academy Charter's way against String Theory in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, as Philadelphia Academy Charter made off with a 30-11 win.
