Volleyball Recap: Shawnee Mission Northwest Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Shawnee Mission Northwest and Shawnee Mission South faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 3-0 win. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Shawnee Mission Northwest was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 25-19.

Shawnee Mission Northwest found their leader in sophomore Cora Anderson, who had 13 digs and five aces. Those five aces set a new season-high mark for Anderson. Lilli Weber also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Shawnee Mission Northwest was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive contests.

Shawnee Mission Northwest pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Shawnee Mission South, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.
