Softball Recap: King City Mustangs vs. Stevenson Pirates
King City lost against Stevenson back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The King City Mustangs fell just short of the Stevenson Pirates by a score of 4-3. King City has not had much luck with Stevenson recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Malaya Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Raylie Moore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a home run.
On Stevenson's side, Claren Wong made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Wong was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
King City's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Stevenson, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
