Softball Recap: St. Charles East Beats Wheaton North for Their Fourth Straight Victory

St. Charles East extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 16-12 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wheaton North Falcons. This was a revenge game for the Fighting Saints: when they faced off against the Falcons back in April, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Kyli Dunn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Charles East saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Majkszak, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Wheaton North, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Wheaton North's side, Hannah Wulf was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. Charles East is set to take on their familiar foe Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Wheaton North will challenge rival Wheaton-Warrenville South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.3, the Tigers 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
