Softball Game Preview: Easley Green Wave vs. Hillcrest Rams

The Easley Green Wave will take on the Hillcrest Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Tuesday, Easley came up short against T.L. Hanna and fell 7-2. The Green Wave haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest entered their tilt with Greenville on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Raiders a 1-0 shutout. Give the Rams' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The result came thanks to Olivia Baker's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.

On the hitting side, Hillcrest's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Skyla Benton, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 12-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Easley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
