Softball Recap: Liberty Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Liberty Christian Academy had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it eight. They lost 15-5 to Madison Christian. If Liberty Christian Academy was looking for revenge after losing 15-4 to Madison Christian when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Madison Looney was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Audrey Soliday, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

As for Madison Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Madison Christian's side, Lily Scholz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Scholz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Madison Christian got a massive performance out of Chloe Rice, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Rice a new career-high. Reese Gibson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Liberty Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-11 loss against Shekinah Christian on the 10th. Hopefully Madison Christian paid attention to Liberty Christian Academy's game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on Liberty Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
