Preview: Cherokee Indians vs. Florence Buffaloes
Cherokee is on a four-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Florence a six-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Cherokee Indians will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Florence Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.
Two weeks ago, things could have been worse for Cherokee, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-24 loss to Brady.
Meanwhile, Florence suffered a rough 47-21 defeat at the hands of Clifton on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1484th, while Clifton is ranked 583rd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kaylie Hamm, who scored nine points. Emerson Herring was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Cherokee now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
