Preview: Chipley Tigers vs. South Walton Seahawks
Chipley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the South Walton Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Walton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Chipley, who comes in off a win.
Last Monday, Chipley slipped by Malone 40-39. Given Chipley's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Malone is ranked 387th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chipley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Whitaker, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitaker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Suggs, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, South Walton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 45-35 to Freeport. That's two games in a row now that South Walton has lost by exactly ten points.
Chipley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for South Walton, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Chipley strolled past South Walton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 59-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chipley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
