Baseball Recap: Havre de Grace Comes Up Short

Havre de Grace dropped down to 5-9 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Harford Hawks by a score of 8-6. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 10-8.

Havre de Grace saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Palmer Spence, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for North Harford, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

On North Harford's side, they got a great performance from Sean Ellis as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Ellis a new career-high.

At the plate, Nate Burd was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Charlie Hunter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Havre de Grace has already played their next game (against C. Milton Wright), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for North Harford, they will challenge Edgewood at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
