Basketball Recap: Creighton Triumphs

Creighton proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 23) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades 42-40. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 50-44 victory the Renegades walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Chambers/Wheeler Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michael Jesse dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards set a new season-high mark for Jesse. Elijah Heinz was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Creighton's record now sits at 5-6. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Creighton has already played their next contest, a 69-29 loss against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] on the 14th. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-39 defeat against Anselmo-Merna on the 10th.
