Recap: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Pungo Christian Academy Raiders
The Halifax Academy Vikings lost against the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Halifax Academy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-41 walloping at the hands of Pungo Christian Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Halifax Academy in their matchups with Pungo Christian Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Halifax Academy still got an impressive performance from Landon Peoples, who scored 23 points. Peoples scored a full 56.1% of Halifax Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. William Hudomint was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Halifax Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Pungo Christian Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Halifax Academy will take on Oakwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Eastern Christian HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Christian HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Pungo Christian Academy is ranked 102nd).
