The Moore Mustangs will take on the Atherton Ravens at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Moore will be strutting in after a victory while Atherton will be coming in after a loss.
Atherton will be up against a hot Moore team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs came out on top against Western by a score of 8-4 last Thursday.
Katel Dutan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Dutan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Diego Pupo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Isaac Northern was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Atherton faced off against Clay on Saturday. The Ravens took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jackson Lonnon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, McCoy Morgan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Caleb Johnson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Moore's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season. As for Atherton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Moore might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Atherton in their previous meeting back in April of 2018. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
