Baseball Recap: Golden Valley Takes a Loss

Golden Valley extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-15-1 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Arvin Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 on Tuesday.

Golden Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eathan Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

As for Arvin, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

On Arvin's side, Alex Nunez made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Nunez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaime Pantoja, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Daniel Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Golden Valley will head out on the road to challenge Tehachapi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Arvin, they will host Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
