Recap: Dublin Fighting Irish vs. Washington County Golden Hawks
After flying high against the Bleckley County Royals last Friday, the Dublin Fighting Irish came back down to earth. Dublin fell just short of Washington County by a score of 51-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Dublin has suffered yet this season.
Several Fighting Irish players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Wright, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Urreana Fuller, who scored 14 points.
Washington County found their leader in underclassman Jade Kitchens, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. Kandace Burden was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Dublin's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Washington County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
Dublin and Wheeler County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Wheeler County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday. As for Washington County, they will head out on the road to take on Glenn Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
