Soccer Game Preview: Clearwater vs. Gulf

The Clearwater Tornadoes will take on the Gulf Buccaneers in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clearwater's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Clearwater's offense. They came up short against Seminole on Thursday, falling 12-0. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 496th, while the Warhawks are ranked 114th).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in November, Gulf was forced to settle for a draw on Monday. They and Bishop McLaughlin Catholic finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw.

With that draw, Gulf's record moves to 8-1-2. As for Clearwater, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Clearwater took their win against Gulf in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 by a conclusive 5-0. Does Clearwater have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gulf turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
