Football Recap: Villa Park Starts off Right with Win over Carson

Villa Park took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They managed a 26-22 win over the Carson Colts. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Colts are ranked 247th).

Carson's loss came despite strong showings from Chris Fields iii and Darren Panton. Fields iii threw for 195 yards and a pair of TDs, while Panton picked up 134 receiving yards and one score. Panton was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 58 yards.

Looking ahead, Villa Park will square off against Western at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Carson, they will face off against Dorsey at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
