Baseball Game Preview: White River Hornets vs. Enumclaw Hornets

For the second straight game, White River will face off against Enumclaw. White River will be playing in front of their home fans against Enumclaw at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (White River 3.8, Enumclaw 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

White River is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Enumclaw on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Enumclaw. White River has struggled against Enumclaw recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Enumclaw's part, Cooper Markham made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Markham has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Cole Chiechi was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Graham Wagner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

The win (which was Enumclaw's third in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for White River, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
