Basketball Recap: SkyView Academy Comes Up Short

SkyView Academy lost against Dawson School back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The SkyView Academy Hawks took a 29-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dawson School Mustangs. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why SkyView Academy lost, don't look at Lydia Slocum. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points along with six boards and five steals. SkyView Academy is 2-1 when Slocum posts five or more steals, but 5-7 otherwise. Rome Sauber also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

SkyView Academy now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Dawson School, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Hawks duke it out with the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilpin County's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so SkyView Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dawson School, they will face off against Dayspring Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
