Baseball Recap: Quartz Hill Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Quartz Hill won the last time they faced Lancaster and things went their way on Friday too. The Royals came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Parker White made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cole Gregory and Maddox Farrell did most of the damage at the plate: Gregory went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Farrell scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two RBI gave Gregory a new career-high. Blake Johnson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Quartz Hill pushed their record up to 6-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quartz Hill will square off against Knight at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Lancaster, they will face off against Littlerock at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lobos' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
