Football Recap: Granite City Comes Up Short

Granite City played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 50-3 loss at the hands of the Collinsville Kahoks. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Kahoks: they've now lost five in a row.

Jace Wilkinson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 235 yards and five TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 50 yards and one score for Collinsville. The dominant performance also gave Wilkinson a new career-high in passer rating (147.8). Matthew Reynolds was another key player, picking up 81 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Granite City's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Collinsville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granite City will welcome Carbondale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Terriers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.8 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Collinsville, they will host Althoff Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
