Basketball Recap: Motley County Comes Up Short

Motley County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Valley Patriots 102-53. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1333rd, while the Patriots are ranked 549th).

Leading Valley to victory were Kanyon Taylor and Corbin Taylor. Kanyon almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Corbin dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Kanyon a new career-high in assists (six). Damian Valdes was another key player, going 9 for 13 en route to 20 points.

Motley County's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Valley, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Motley County has already played their next match (against Paducah), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Valley will welcome Guthrie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
