Basketball Recap: Grandview Skates Past Fort Zumwalt East with Ease

Grandview entered their tilt with Fort Zumwalt East on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Fort Zumwalt East Lions 61-21. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 29 points or more this season.

Grandview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jada Smith out in front who posted ten points along with seven boards and seven steals. That's the most steals Smith has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniya Cruthird, who put up 13 points and five rebounds.

Grandview was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Grandview's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Fort Zumwalt East, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grandview will venture away from home to take on Excelsior Springs at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. The timing isn't great for Excelsior Springs: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Grandview has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season. As for Fort Zumwalt East, they will head out to square off against Troy-Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
