Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Marian Crusaders

The Lincoln Northeast Rockets will take on the Marian Crusaders at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln Northeast will be strutting in after a victory while Marian will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Lincoln Northeast needed a bit of extra time to put away Lincoln East. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 41-40 win over the Spartans.

Lincoln Northeast found their leader in freshman Brynna Renard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Renard also set a new season-high mark in blocks with four. Another player making a difference was Nahla Sand, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Lincoln Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Marian was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 53-52 to Millard South.

Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lincoln Northeast, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Lincoln Northeast was able to grind out a solid win over Marian in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, winning 71-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln Northeast since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
