Softball Game Preview: Stanhope Elmore Mustangs vs. Wetumpka Indians

Stanhope Elmore is 1-9 against Wetumpka since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Indians at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Stanhope Elmore put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They never let Percy Julian get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Wetumpka came tearing into Monday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Lions. 11 seems to be a good number for the Indians as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Abigail Adams looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bailey Carlise was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Autymn Hollon, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Wetumpka pushed their record up to 32-4 with the win, which was their 34th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Stanhope Elmore, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
