Basketball Game Preview: Onsted Wildcats vs. Ida Bluestreaks

Onsted is 9-1 against Ida since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Onsted Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ida Bluestreaks at 7:00 p.m. Onsted knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Ida likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, everything went Onsted's way against Clinton as Onsted made off with a 70-47 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Talan Hutchinson, who went 11 for 15 en route to 31 points along with six assists and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two). JT Hill was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Ida unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to Madison at home by a 52-33 margin. The game marked the Bluestreaks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Ida's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Onsted, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

Onsted was able to grind out a solid victory over Ida in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 55-45. Does Onsted have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ida turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
